چکیده
The fine particulate matter (PM) emitted from jet aircraft poses a serious threat to the environment and human health which can be mitigated by using biofuels. This paper aims quantify PM emissions small turbofan fueled with alcohol (ATJ) synthetic kerosene its various blends (5%, 20%, 30% of ATJ) Jet A-1 fuel. Emissions engine (DGEN 380) high bypass ratio, applicable in private jets, were studied. Among four fuels tested, PM-number emission index (EIN) was lowest for ATJ blend. EIN dropped 1.1 × 1017 4.7 1016 particles/kg Burning alternative fuel reduced particle mass over entire range flow at least 117 mg/kg particles formed nucleation mechanism dominate emission, is characteristic engines. Thus, number-based size distributions (PSDs) exhibit single mode log-normal distribution. highest values found neat compared other fuels. use additive did not cause significant changes mode. Carbonyl compound emissions from passenger cars fueled with methanol/gasoline blends.
Carbonyl compound emissions from two passenger cars fueled with different methanol/gasoline blends (M15 and M100) and operated with three-way catalytic converters (TWC) were investigated. The tests were performed on a chassis dynamometer with constant volume sampling over the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). Carbonyls were trapped on dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) cartridges. The hydrazones fo...
متن کاملEmissions of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Particle-Bound Metals from a Diesel Engine Generator Fueled with Waste Cooking Oil-Based Biodiesel Blends
This study investigates the emission of a heavy-duty diesel engine generator fueled with waste cooking oil (WCO)based biodiesel blends (W) and operated at 1.5 and 3.0 kW loads. A brand of pure fossil diesel was adopted as the base fuel, with 20% and 40% WCO-based biodiesel added into the based fuel to form W20 and W40 blends, respectively. The emission characteristics of PM, metals and PAHs wer...
متن کاملEmission Characteristics of a Diesel Engine fueled with Diesel-biodiesel-JP-4 Blends
The main objective of this research is to study the effects of JP-4-biodiesel-diesel fuel blends and operating parameters on the emission characteristics of a CI engine. The experimental tests were performed on a four-cylinder DI diesel engine. The Mixture-RSM method was used to develop mathematical models based on experimental data. The results showed that with the increase of the biodiesel pr...
متن کاملPerformance and Emissions of a Tractor engine operating on biodiesel-diesel blends with EGR
The influences of different diesel/biodiesel blends and EGR rate on brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC), exhaust gas temperature, NO, HC, CO emissions, are studied and demonstrated. In this paper a four stroke direct injection, water cooled, diesel engine was used. Biodiesel either in neat form or as a blend with diesel fuel is extensively investigated to solve the twin problem of reduction ...
متن کاملCharacteristics of SME biodiesel-fueled diesel particle emissions and the kinetics of oxidation.
Biodiesel is one of the most promising alternative diesel fuels. As diesel emission regulations have become more stringent, the diesel particulate filter (DPF) has become an essential part of the aftertreatment system. Knowledge of kinetics of exhaust particle oxidation for alternative diesel fuels is useful in estimating the change in regeneration behavior of a DPF with such fuels. This study ...
